Visit of a biogas plant
On 14th November 2008 the class FOS 12bT visited together with Mrs. Haller-Bieringer the biogas plant in Grossaich near Geiselhöring. We were welcomed by the owner of the fermentation plant. At first Mr. Feuchtmeyer told us something about the organic matters which could be used to produce biogas. These are for example the dung of animals, maize or old apples. The plant gets the organic material generally from farmers. The Biogas is made in 6 meters high devices, which is fed with material from a big machine called "Vielfraß".
Afterwards the biogas comes into the block heat and power plant, where it is burnt and the energy of the gas is transformed into electrical power and heat. The electricity comes into the normal electricity network and with the heat a conservatory gets warm or it is used to warm up the office and flat of the owners.
